Actor Pratik Parihar has stepped into the royal shoes of Prince Chandrabhan in the popular historical drama Tenali Rama. Known for its mix of wit, tradition, and drama, the show continues to captivate viewers with fresh characters and gripping narratives. In an exclusive chat with Times of India TV, Pratik opens up about his preparation, the emotional layers of his role, and the enriching experience of working on a period drama.

“What excited me most about playing the role of Prince Chandrabhan in Tenali Rama was the opportunity to dive into a character that’s both regal and deeply human. He’s not just a prince— he’s layered with ambition, pride, and vulnerability, which gave me so much to explore as a performer. Bringing such a character to life in a show that’s both entertaining and culturally rich was truly a rewarding experience.”

Portraying royalty isn’t just about donning elegant costumes—it’s about embodying the persona. “Getting into the role of Prince Chandrabhan was a really exciting challenge,” he shares. “I worked on the royal body language, but what really drew me in was his emotional journey. He starts off with confidence, coming in for a peace treaty, and ends up facing a tragic downfall.”

One of the most poignant aspects of the character is his relationship with Amarpali. “Chandrabhan’s connection with Amarpali adds an emotional layer to his character,” Pratik reveals. “Something happens between them that deeply impacts both, eventually leading to a tragic end. Their relationship reveals a more complex, vulnerable side of him and adds weight to the storyline.”

Reflecting on his on-set experience, Pratik says, “Working on set was an incredible experience! The elaborate costumes and sets really transported me into another time.” Having portrayed period roles in the past, he was comfortable handling the attire. “Every detail—from the costumes to the grand sets—helped me get into character and made the world feel so real.”

Prince Chandrabhan’s journey may be brief, but with Pratik’s powerful portrayal, he’s sure to leave a lasting impression.
