Harshvardhan Rane recently announced his decision to opt out of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan. The move came after his Pakistani co-star, Mawra Hocane, made remarks on India’s Operation Sindoor. The actor made his stance public, expressing that he cannot associate with anyone who disrespects his country.
Harshvardhan didn’t take Mawra's comments lightly. On Saturday, he took to Instagram to assert that while he refrained from attacking Mawra personally or targeting her dignity as a woman, her remarks were filled with “hate” and “personal attacks.”
“That sounded like an attempt at a personal attack. Fortunately, I have the tolerance to overlook such attempts—but I have zero tolerance for any attack on my nation’s dignity,” he wrote.
In another part of his statement, the actor likened his decision to “weeding out unwanted elements,” adding, “An Indian farmer would pluck out the unwanted weed from his crop. It’s called weeding. The farmer doesn’t need a PR team for this act. It’s called common sense.”

Harshvardhan concluded that he merely made a personal and professional choice, stating, “I never mentioned her name or called her names. I intend to maintain that standard.”
Sanam Teri Kasam, which released in 2016, marked the Bollywood debut of both Rane and Hocane and garnered a cult following over the years.
