Mouni Roy recently faced backlash and rumours about having plastic surgery due to her changed appearance. Responding to the negativity, she labeled the critics as ‘unaccomplished’ and highlighted how they overlook the dedication and effort actors invest in their careers. Supporting her, Palak Tiwari, her co-star from 'The Bhootnii', addressed the harmful trend of celebrity trolling and the unfair beauty expectations placed on women in the industry.
Palak Tiwari on Celebrity Bashing and Its Impact
Palak highlighted the ongoing harsh criticism that actors endure, which frequently leads them to consider surgical options. In an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, she said, “There is one thing that sells more than celebrity is celebrity bashing. We are in a time when there is a lot of hate against public figures in general. It’s unabashed and relentless and it has never been to this extent. People can feel anybody can do this job, which I understand and respect and I want to earn their reverence but there needs to be fairness.”
The Contradictory Scrutiny of Female Actors
Tiwari criticized the way female actors are constantly judged for their appearance. She pointed out the contradictory nature of public opinion, saying, “You put our focus on our aesthetics and then when a person gets it doctored, you complain about us setting wrong example. First you shame a person for there appearance and then when try to fix because they succumb to the insecurities because of the hate around them then you bash them for giving into the hate. It’s the most unfulfilling situation. They just want to criticise you, it could be about your nose, hair, body weight anything.”
Mouni Roy Shares Her Experience with Trolling
During the discussion, Mouni also opened up about her encounters with online trolling. She remarked, “The sad part about trolling is that these are the people who haven’t achieved anything in life. They always have hatred for public figure but they aren’t willing to see the hustle and struggle that a person has to go through to reach that position. It’s funny to be.”
She added, “They don’t know how much hard work we have to put in to learn the craft, to go to auditions, to not belong to any kind of family family, have no means to go on and get our first job. We all have worked hard and given endless hours.”
The Rumours Behind Mouni Roy’s New Look
For the unversed, Mouni Roy became the subject of online trolls who claimed she styled bangs to conceal a failed cosmetic surgery intended to shrink her forehead.
