During an appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, 50-year-old Beatriz at Dinner actress Salma Hayek shared how Donald Trump once tried to pursue her, even though she was already in a relationship. She said it began when she felt cold at an event, and Trump, who was sitting behind her, kindly placed his coat over her shoulders.
Trump Ignored Her Boyfriend and Called Hayek Instead
Salma recalled that when she turned around at the event, her boyfriend politely greeted Donald Trump. Trump responded by saying he noticed she was cold and that’s why he gave her his coat. Then, instead of speaking to her, he continued talking to her boyfriend.
Trump Said Her Boyfriend Wasn’t ‘Big Enough’
The actress further said that Donald Trump continued chatting with her boyfriend and even invited both of them to visit his hotel in Atlantic City if they were ever nearby. He asked for their phone numbers, but never called her boyfriend—instead, he later contacted Hayek directly.
She also shared that Trump later asked her out, even though he knew she had a boyfriend. She was surprised and asked if he was serious. According to her, Trump told her that her boyfriend wasn’t good enough or important enough for her, and insisted she should date him instead.
Hayek Claims Trump Planted a Tabloid Story
Trevor Noah joked that “Trump was right” because Salma Hayek didn’t stay with that boyfriend. She later married French billionaire François-Henri Pinault in 2009. The couple now has a daughter, Valentina Paloma, who is 9½ years old.
Salma shared this story months after first revealing she had rejected Donald Trump. She claimed that after she turned him down, he planted a tabloid story about her, saying they didn’t date because she was “too short.”
Hayek said that later Trump left her a message pretending to be concerned. He told her, “Can you believe this? Who would say this? I don’t want people to think this about you.” This came after he allegedly spread a false story about her being “too short” to date.
The actress added that Trump assumed she would agree to date him just to prove that the false story—claiming he didn’t date her because she was “too short”—wasn’t true.
