Both penalties were imposed under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses. In the high-octane clash between PBKS and MI, the former pulled off a thrilling win in Ahmedabad in a match that was delayed by rain. After being pushed back over 2 hours, PBKS marched on to victory riding on the back of a thrilling knock from their skipper. The 30-year-old took center stage with his 87-run show in just 41 deliveries.
Nehal Wadhera's 48 from 29 and Josh Inglis' 38 from 21 deliveries also helped Punjab chase down the 203 total posted by MI. The result means that PBKS will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on June 3 for the summit clash.
The fines reflect the IPL's strict stance on maintaining match timing and over-rate regulations during the tournament.
