Bhadrapada Purnima 2024 : Purnima holds a great religious and spiritual significance in Hindu religion. This day is one of the most revered days for Hindus. The day is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and deity Moon. On this auspicious day, devotees observe fast from dawn to dusk and they offer prayers to Lord Vishnu and Moon God. Purnima falls every month, and this is also known as full moon night. This month, Purnima is going to fall during the month of Bhadrapada so it is known as Bhadrapada Purnima . Bhadrapada Purnima will be observed on September 17, 2024.

Bhadrapada Purnima 2024: Significance

Bhadrapada Purnima has a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. This day is considered as the most auspicious day for worshipping Lord Vishnu and Moon deity. Purnima that falls in the month of Bhadrapada month, known as Bhadrapada Purnima. Purnima is also known as Full Moon day. This day is considered as the sacred day to manifest what you want and desire for. This day also comes under a powerful day when people remove all their past emotions and renew all the feelings to take a fresh start.

Bhadrapada Purnima 2024: Puja Rituals


1. Wake up in the morning and take a holy bath.
2. Take a sankalp of observing Satyanarayan fast.
3. On this auspicious day, people offer prayers to Lord Satyanarayan and seek blessings.
4. Once you take a sankalp of observing the fast, you must clean your house and puja room, where you want to place your alter.
5. Place an idol of Lord Satyanarayan along with Shree Yantra (symbol of Goddess Laxmi) and adorn the idol with yellow colour flower garland and sweets, and don't forget to offer Tulsi Patra to Lord Vishnu as the puja is considered incomplete if you do not offer Basil leaves to the Lord.
6. Light a diya with desi ghee and chant various Lord Vishnu mantras to invoke the idol and keep the kalash in front of the idol
7. Recite Satyanarayan Vrat katha anytime before sunset.
8. After reciting the katha, you must offer bhog prasad - Panchamrit (milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar powder or boora) and panjeeri which is made up of roasted wheat flour in desi ghee and mix sugar powder in that. Cut banana into small pieces and mix them in that panjeeri. Then offer it to the Lord.
9. Chant Aart - "Om Jai Laxmi Ramana" and "Om Jai Jagdish Hare".
10. Once you complete the puja, offer that kalash water to Lord Moon and worship him also by chanting his mantras and offering him bhog prasad.
11. After completing all the rituals, you must distribute prasad among all the family members.
