Fans accuse Derek Carr of faking injury after spotting healthy shoulder in new YouTube show amid uncertain NFL future

Let’s be real, when your starting quarterback is in the news, you’re expecting updates on rehab, progress, or maybe offseason workouts. What you don’t expect is for him to pop up on YouTube reviewing a veggie chopper and talking about Rolls Royces. But that’s exactly what Saints QB Derek Carr did, dropping the first episode of his new series “Carr Reviews” just as reports began swirling that he might miss the entire 2025 season due to a shoulder injury.

The timing? Yeah, it’s weird.

Derek Carr’s shoulder injury is raising concerns but his influencer debut is raising even more eyebrows across social media

A few days before the video went live, NFL Network 's Ian Rapoport reported that Carr is dealing with a lingering shoulder issue, one that could require surgery and possibly knock him out of the 2025 season. But Carr didn’t address that publicly. Instead, he casually appeared on YouTube with his brother David Carr, talking horsepower and luxury interiors.

In the video, Carr isn’t wearing a sling, doesn’t mention the injury, and moves his shoulder like it’s business as usual which only adds to the confusion. Saints fans quickly noticed that this debut came on the same day as the team’s offseason workouts, which Carr didn’t attend.

Coincidence? The internet doesn’t think so.

Fan reactions to Derek Carr’s YouTube video were a mix of amusement, confusion, and frustration with his timing

The NFL community didn’t hold back. Some fans joked that “This is the lamest video I’ve ever watched in my life and feel less intelligent from watching this”

While others accused him of faking the injury, one tweet summed it up perfectly,

Others speculated that the influencer rollout could be a strategic distraction, possibly even a way to stay in the public eye if surgery sidelines him longer than expected.

There’s also chatter about what this says about Carr’s relationship with the Saints. After a rocky 2024 season, some are wondering if this marks the beginning of the end or at least a major shift in how he wants to be perceived publicly.

Derek Carr’s new series blurs the line between athlete and influencer but what does it mean for his NFL future?

“Carr Reviews” might’ve been meant as light fun just a side project for the offseason. But its timing, tone, and the total lack of football talk make it feel like more than just content filler. Is Carr trying to control his own narrative? Testing the waters of post-NFL life? Or just genuinely vibing with his brother and a camera?

Whatever the intention, the vibes are undeniably off.
