Tyrese Maxey is an American professional basketball player, playing with the National Basketball Association's Philadelphia 76ers . Before this, he played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats. Maxey was initially a lottery pick, only to be selected 21st overall by the 76ers after a decision from their president of basketball operations, Daryl Morey.

On December 3, 2020, He signed his rookie scale contract, and it was announced that he would be one of the team's primary bench players going into the 2020-21 season. Maxey made his NBA debut on December 23, scoring six points in the first game of the season against the Washington Wizards.

Among NBA superstars that signed with New Balance are also Darius Garland, Kawhi Leonard, Jamal Murray, Dejounte Murray, and Zach LaVine. The actor also stars in the big screen debut 2022, in Adam Sandler's Netflix basketball drama Hustle with other NBA players that have Juancho Hernangomez play the role of Bo Cruz, terms of the deal not disclosed.

He resides in Voorhees Township, New Jersey, when the NBA is being played. On Christmas Eve 2021, his house caught on fire but he had no injury reported. Maxey is part of the so-called "Baggage Claim Boys," a group of stellar high school basketball players from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex who met each other through their college recruiting season. They have played basketball together since first grade, but never as teammates.

Outside of basketball, Maxey is a self-proclaimed Marvel Comics and Marvel Cinematic Universe nerd. He has named Spider-Man: Homecoming and The Avengers as some of his favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe films, referencing Spider-Man in a comparison to himself. He runs his own charitable foundation, the Tyrese Maxey Foundation, which has teamed with Youth Services, Inc. to help address truancy in Philadelphia-area schools.
