McDonald's Boo Buckets return for Halloween 2024 with a new colour and customisable stickers

Send Push
Get ready for Halloween fun at McDonald's as the beloved Boo Buckets return to Happy Meals on October 15. These nostalgic trick-or-treat buckets, a fan favourite, come in new and exciting designs, offering both utility and fun for kids and collectors alike. This year, McDonald’s is shaking things up with the addition of a new blue Boo Bucket, replacing last year’s purple version. Other colours include the classic orange, green, and white.

Each Boo Bucket comes with stickers, allowing kids to personalise their pails and get into the Halloween spirit. This marks the third consecutive year McDonald's has reintroduced Boo Buckets, which originally debuted in 1986 and made their nostalgic comeback in 2022.

These limited-edition pails, which double as trick-or-treat containers, will only be available while supplies last, so fans are encouraged to grab them before they disappear.

How to get McDonald’s Boo buckets?

Starting on October 15, McDonald's locations nationwide will offer Boo Buckets in place of the traditional Happy Meal box. You can get one by ordering a Happy Meal, available with a choice of entrees: hamburger, cheeseburger, or Chicken McNuggets (in 4-piece or 6-piece options), along with fries or apple slices and a drink. Prices for the Boo Buckets will vary by location.

This year, McDonald’s Boo Buckets offer a more customisable experience with sticker sets, allowing kids to decorate their buckets as they like. These buckets have been designed with a more amorphous appearance than previous years, encouraging creativity in how they’re decorated.

McDonald's fans eagerly took to social media, flooding the company's post on X (formerly Twitter) with excitement over the return of Boo Buckets. One user exclaimed, "It’s officially spooky season 👻," while another shared, "I love Boo Buckets! I literally use them for trick-or-treating!"

McDonald's history of the Boo Buckets

The Boo Buckets, which come with matching stickers for customization, are a nod to McDonald’s nostalgic offerings. Known for iconic characters like Grimace and Ronald McDonald, the fast-food giant has a history of beloved collectibles.

Earlier in August, McDonald's introduced a limited-time “Collector’s Meal” on August 13, featuring classic food items paired with one of six nostalgic cups, decorated with fan-favourite themes.

McDonald’s has a long history of tapping into nostalgia, as seen with recent launches like the “Collector’s Meal” in August 2023. The company also revived its McNugget Buddies in December 2022, bringing back the iconic chicken nugget-shaped toys after a 25-year hiatus.

Grab your Boo Buckets while supplies last

As with previous years, McDonald's warns that these limited-edition Boo Buckets will only be available while supplies last. Fans are encouraged to grab their Monster Boo Buckets before they vanish, as they tend to sell out quickly during the Halloween season.
