A daring rescue in Texas has been captured on bodycam , showing a fast-acting cop pull a suspected drunk driver from her burning car.
After making the hero-like rescue, officer Tyler Ingram of the Mesquite police department described the scene as “like a movie.”
How the scene unfolded
Ingram was driving on the I-30 highway when he witnessed a brutal crash on the opposite side of his lane just after midnight on 30 September. After hearing the impact, he quickly went to inspect the scene and saw that a woman was trapped inside the vehicle. Smoke and flames were spreading rapidly as she screamed in pain.
“As I got closer, I could hear a female screaming inside,” Ingram said. “When I was at the driver’s door, the flames were starting to crawl from the front to the passenger compartment.”
Bodycam footage shows Ingram trying his best to open the door as smoke filled the car. He asked the woman if her leg was stuck, to which she replied that she was “just in pain.” The door handle was bent, but he managed to force it open and pull her out by her arms. Her face appeared to be bleeding as he and another officer dragged her to a safe distance before the car was completely engulfed in flames. Once she was safe, Ingram applied a tourniquet to a wound on her leg. “

The woman is expected to make a full recovery, but was charged with driving while intoxicated, reports New York Post.
The Mesquite police department reminded the public that drinking and driving do not mix, as tragedy can happen in any second.
