Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday described his country as a "nation that does not surrender."
"Those who know the Iranian people and their history know that the Iranian nation isn’t a nation that surrenders," Khamenei posted on X.
His statement came after the Islamic Republic launched missile strikes on a US air base in Qatar. The attack was in retaliation to America's strike on three nuclear sites in Iran on Sunday, amid the latter's conflict with US ally Israel.
The statement also came shortly before President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran have accepted a US-proposed ceasefire agreement to end the conflict between the Asian rivals.
Reacting to Trump's announcement, Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said there is "no agreement yet" on cessation of military operations. However, he added that the US proposal would be accepted provided the Israelis end their "illegal aggression no later than 4am Tehran time."
In the following post, Araghchi suggested that Iran has accepted the ceasefire proposal, saying that the Iranian military "continued to punish Israel for its aggression continued until the very last minute, at 4am."
