Donald Trump ’s senior adviser Danielle Alvarez said that Trump was "absolutely thrilled" with how republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance handled the debate, pointing out that he effectively communicated the message of the Trump-Vance ticket.
Trump himself followed up with a barrage of social media posts, calling Vance’s performance outstanding and branding governor Tim Walz as a "Low IQ Disaster," comparing him to Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump went on to warn that the country "would never be able to recover" under a Walz-Harris administration and questioned their ability to represent the nation.
Danielle Alvarez, a senior adviser to the Trump 2024 campaign , conveyed Trump's enthusiasm in a statement, saying, "He was absolutely thrilled with JD Vance's performance this evening. It is very clear that JD Vance was able to articulate the message of the Trump-Vance ticket. He was able to remind voters of the prosperous four years when President Donald Trump was in the White House,”
He was able to take Tim Walz to task on Kamala Harris’ failed three and a half years. It was an incredible performance. The president was thrilled,” she added.
Trump in a series of fiery posts on Truth Social, declared, “JD crushed it! Walz was a Low IQ Disaster - Very much like Kamala. Our Country would never be able to recover from an Administration of these two. Can you imagine them representing us with sharp, fierce Foreign Leaders? I can’t!”
The former president was notably active during the debate, providing a running commentary on Walz's performance. Within minutes of Walz addressing the moderators about the conflict in the Middle East, Trump blasted the governor, saying, "He’s been indoctrinated with lies, thinking he can override his own incompetence." The former president’s incisive remarks painted Walz as flustered and out of his depth, asserting, “He’s as nervous as you can get!”
In the face of Walz’s critique of Trump’s foreign policy decisions, Trump stood firmly behind Vance, stating that he was providing “a great defense of me and the Administration of fake charges made by an obviously not very bright Governor.”
The debate turned personal as Trump unleashed his signature wit, repeatedly referring to Walz with the derisive nickname “Tampon Tim.” He quipped, “JD is steady and strong, Tampon Tim is sweating bullets, he is nervous and 'weird.'"
