Prayagraj: Ahead of Maha Kumbh, all the major intersections, crossings, and walls on the sides of major roads are being beautified under the ‘paint my city campaign'. Authorities have decided to paint around one lakh square feet of area across the city. Under this, artists would be painting the walls and other permanent structures besides the roads leading to the Sangam area, on different religious themes and art forms.
Among some of the prominent themes and sites where the same would be painted include Lord Vishnu based on Madhubani art, which will be shown at Malaka intersection ahead of Phaphamau, Krishna Lila at Bakshi Band, Lord Buddha and Shiva Bhakti at Teliyarganj underpass, nine forms of Maa Durga at Rambagh flyover, Shri Ram Katha at Kothaparcha underpass, women empowerment on the boundary wall of Allahabad Degree College, Shiv Parivar at Gangoli Shivala, Nagvasuki and Lord Shiva at Nagvasuki temple. Likewise, the Bhagirath and Ganga Avtaran Katha would be painted at Rasulabad Ghat, various dance forms of India at Prayagraj Junction, Ram-Sita Vivah at Naini Junction, festivals of India at Rambagh Railway Station, Madhubani art at Phaphamau Railway Station, and Mankameshwar Sen related story will be painted on Mankameshwar temple boundary wall.
Meanwhile, the officials have instructed that the signage boards, which will be installed as a guide towards the way to the mela area, should mention the information in different languages. Along with this, the municipal corporation officials have also been instructed to remove boards installed at intersections, paying special attention to facade lighting. Preparation are on to provide land and facilities to about 10,000 institutions in Maha Kumbh. In the 2019, about 6,000 institutions were provided land and facilities. This time online applications will be taken from Oct 10. Those who want to apply offline can give it in Mela Authority office, where operators will apply same online on their behalf.
