Google's Gemini Live AI Feature Now Available For Free To Android Users

Send Push
Last month, Google introduced the Pixel 9 series along with several new AI advancements. These included Pixel Studio, an upgraded Magic Eraser , and Gemini Live—Google’s latest AI feature designed to enable seamless conversations with the Gemini AI.

Previously accessible only to those with a Gemini Advanced subscription, Google appears to be making Gemini Live available to all Android users for free. According to a report by 9to5Google, the feature can now be used by launching the Gemini app and selecting the “new circular waveform with a sparkle icon in the bottom right corner” of the app or its overlay.

Upon tapping the icon, users will see a fullscreen interface with "Hold" and "End" buttons at the bottom. The report also notes that it’s possible to minimize the fullscreen mode, allowing users to continue using their phone while interacting with Gemini.

To stop the conversation with Gemini Live, users can either press the notification or say “Stop.” At the conclusion of the conversation, Gemini will provide a transcript of the dialogue. Additionally, all responses from Gemini will be stored in the history section, which users can access to restart conversations.

The feature also includes 10 new voices for users to choose from when interacting with Gemini. However, at present, the feature is only functional on devices where the language is set to English.

Although Gemini Live does not yet support Gemini Extensions, which allow access to Google services such as Gmail and YouTube Music, Google has announced that this capability will be added in the future.

When testing the feature, we found that Gemini Live wasn’t available on our device, suggesting that Google is rolling out the feature gradually, and it may take some time before it becomes available on all Android phones.
