NEW DELHI: The Manipur government has extended the suspension of internet and mobile data services in five districts until September 20. The affected districts are Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bisnupur, and Kakching.
An order from the State's Home Department confirmed this extension. Initially, the ban began on September 10 and was set to last for five days. However, due to ongoing law and order concerns, the ban has been extended.
On September 13, DIG Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF ) Manish Kumar Sachar visited Thangkanphai village in Kangpokpi district and the Songpehjang relief camp in Saikul Hilltown. He interacted with the Kuki community representatives. DIG Sachar conveyed to ANI that over 100 families are residing in the relief camp. He said, "they don't have any demand except to get back to their normal lives."
Earlier, on September 12, a joint operation by the Indian Army, Manipur Police, CRPF, and Border Security Force in the Churachandpur district led to the recovery of arms and ammunition. In the Maulsang area, authorities seized a 7.62mm AK Series Assault Rifle with a magazine, three medium-sized country-made mortars (Pompi), and other war-like stores.
